Waxed Canvas:  Many of our products are made with waxed canvas purchased from A.L. Frances Textiles in Florida.  Waxed canvas is impregnated with wax, making the fabric water resistant and giving it that beautiful patina the more you use it.  It cannot be machine washed or washed with soap or the wax will eventually wash away.  Clean it by lightly brushing it or wiping it with a damp cloth and spot clean with a small amount of saddle soap if necessary. Do not dry clean.

Cork: Cork is a natural renewable resource;  the cork is stripped from the cork tree, but the tree is not damaged and the cork grows back.  Cork is naturally water resistant but you should not machine wash or dry it.  Clean it with a soft cloth or saddle soap. Do not dry clean.

Cotton Bags and Cotton Quilts:  We use only the highest quality quilting cotton and canvas.  We do NOT pre-shrink our fabrics since they are not clothing.  If you have a tote bag or other item that you do decide to machine wash and dry, some shrinking will occur.  We DO wash our quilts when they are finished in hot water with a color catcher and dry them in the dryer on high for their first wash.  This is because they have been handled so much while making them and we want them to be clean for you and we also want to get rid of any residual dye.  You can wash your quilts in the machine with a gentle soap with cool or cold water and dry them on low.  Quilts only get better the more you wash them!  Do not dry clean.

Waterproof Nylon:  We often use waterproof nylon as the lining in some of our tote bags and purses.  Waterproof nylon can be cleaned with a non-abrasive cleaner.  Do not machine wash or put in the dryer only because the heat could melt the nylon and if the bag is made with cotton, the cotton will shrink and the nylon will not shrink, which could cause the bag to become misshapen.  Do not dry clean.
